Nordic skating (with poles)
If you enjoy cross-country skiing or roller skating, you’ll love Nordic skating!
You can pole skate with hockey skates or touring skates. However, even recreational skaters often find long-distance skating more enjoyable with touring skates that can be attached to cross-country ski boots. Touring skates are very comfortable because the center of gravity is low, and your familiar ski boots provide a good fit and support.
With touring skates and poles, you can cover the distance smoothly and efficiently. Pole skating gives you a great full-body workout and lets you really engage your whole body.
A helmet is mandatory. Other protective equipment is optional.
Remember to dress warmly – the wind on the ice can make it feel quite chilly!
